Grocery Recovery & Sorting Assistant - Open

Purpose:
We are seeking 3-4 volunteers to prepare recovered groceries from local grocery stores for our weekly reFRESH community market, ensuring food is safe, organized, and ready for distribution.
Key Duties:

Sort donated groceries by type and quality
-
Remove and compost spoiled items
-
Recycle packaging where possible
-
Carry and lift boxes or bins of groceries (may require bending and reaching)

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including washing recovery bins and packaging
Skills & Requirements:
-
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Clear criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector)

Comfortable working in a team environment
-
Attention to detail and commitment to food safety
-
Van/truck to load and transport groceries would be an asset for at least one of the volunteers
Time Commitment:
4 hours on Wednesdays (starting at approximately 10:00am)
